About

Dr. Lia Andrews, DAOM, L.Ac.
Dr. Lia Andrews, DAOM, L.Ac.Doctor of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine
Dr. Lia Andrews, DAOM, L.Ac. is an educator, practitioner, and author on Chinese Medicine. Her books include 7 Times a Woman, The Postpartum Recovery Program™, and the upcoming book on Daoist sexuality.

Dr. Andrews was born in Connecticut and later move to North Carolina. She frequently traveled to her mother’s native Brazil. Dr. Andrews suffered health issues as a teen which led her to acupuncture for treatment and eventually as a career and life’s passion.

After graduating from the College of William & Mary, Dr. Lia Andrews, DAOM, L.Ac., received her Masters in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in a lineage-based, Daoist school in Los Angeles called Yo San University. The 4 1/2 year long program emphasized Chinese herbal medicine as much as acupuncture and qigong and tai chi classes (from Hua-ching Ni’s lineage) were required every semester. The majority of her teachers were accomplished TCM practitioners in China and taught a more heavy-handed needling style with a simple yet profound philosophy of the medicine. Though their style of needling has been modified for an American audience and our ever-changing world, she maintains a great deal of love and respect for the long lineage of teachers she had.

Dr. Andrews is certified by the California Acupuncture Board and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In addition to her schooling, she has mentored with several TCM Dermatology and Cosmetic Acupuncture experts: Dr. Yue-ying Li, Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, L.Ac., MS, Dr. Martha Lucas, Ph.D., L.Ac. and Denise Ellinger, L.Ac., and currently Mazin Al-Khafaji. Dr. Andrews is trained in Mien Shiang Facial Diagnosis from the Mien Shiang Institute, Los Angeles, CA. She traveled to China, Thailand, and Brazil to study natural medicine and has practiced qigong since 2000.

Dr. Andrews received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. She participated in a pilot study on Prostate Cancer Radiation patients at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. She has been a Reiki master for over 20 years.
